CameraSentry, a handy utility developed by Bersoft Software & Technology, is here to meet your need to keep an eye on locations, items, or any other thing that needs surveillance. With this application, you can view what your local or network cameras are recording, you can set up automatic motion tracking for specific zones, you can take snapshots of what you see, and you can record whatever the cameras show you.

Support for Windows 7, Windows Vista, and all other Windows editions down to the quite old Windows 2000 is provided. This means you can install CameraSentry on a PC powered by just about any version of the Microsoft-developed operating system. Just download a 12.8MB executable, launch it, and click through the instructions presented by a setup wizard. It won’t take long to be done with the whole thing.

The main pane on CameraSentry’s interface does not display anything at first – that’s because you need to add a camera first and then open the selected camera. Once you do so, you will see footage from the camera on the application’s main pane. At the top there are buttons for adding a camera, picking between existing cameras, and opening a selected camera. Further up there’s a traditional File menu.

Using CameraSentry is a fairly simple process. Add a camera (pick between a local and network camera), open the selected camera, and enjoy the footage. If you want to, you can record what you see or you can take screenshots of what you see. CameraSentry also comes with a motion tracking function – recording will launch automatically when motion is detected in a certain area.

You can also add several cameras to the list and open several cameras at once. This sort of functionality comes in handy when you want to monitor multiple locations.

You can set it up so video recording launches according to a schedule, you can set it up so that you can view footage from your cameras from another PC or from a mobile device via the web, you can set it up so you will be notified via email when motion is detected, you can set it up so frames from the camera are uploaded to a remote server, and more.

Please note that all the functionality CameraSentry has to offer is not provided for free. The trial comes with several limitations: all the cameras except for the first one run for 15 minutes only, the full image is checked for motion not just specific zones, the recording scheduler can be used one time for each camera.

Record camera footage, take snapshots, automatically start recording when motion is detected, get email notifications and more with the CameraSentry application.

Pros

Support for numerous Windows editions is provided. You can add local and network cameras. View footage from the cameras, take snapshots, record footage, specify motion detection zones. Get notifications via email, upload frames to a web server.

Cons

Limited functionality in the trial version.
